Cricket in India
It is probably the enticing nature of the game, which has made cricket a household name across the globe, and there are no signs of its popularity waning with time. Tournaments like world cup and T-20 are getting a fabulous response. In world cricket, 1 of the most venerated squads is from India. Indian cricket has its own feel in world cricket since famous participants like Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and Sunil Gavaskar are there to make it more wonderful.

Indian cricket is the great combination of national and regional cricket squads. Each region in India has its own regional cricket squad and all these teams take part in many tournaments like Ranji Trophy and Duleep Trophy. To be picked out for the international level games, participants from the regional cricket teams have to qualify and prove to be the best at the regional level. The highest authority in the country for the game is a body called The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) who has a host of responsibilities including selecting the national squad and decide on all matters involving sponsorship as well as role clarity of every player in the national cricket squad. Other than the domestic body called the BCCI, there are also region level cricket control authorities that are in charge of supervising the players at the region level, and also groom them for handling future and higher responsibilities. It is obvious that the state level cricket governments are responsible in building and contributing towards the national squad and of late several headline-making participants have emerged like Dhoni, Harbhajan Singh and Pathan have been able to showcase their skills only with the patronage of state level authorities.
Indian cricket team got approval as test team in 1932 that was a subject of great honor for every Indian and in the same year, the team played its first test cricket match against England at Lords and really demonstrated their potential as a good test team. Since that time Indian players have never looked back as they moved on making and beating a number of cricket records. What is more, India has the distinction of winning the world cup in 1983 as well as the Y20 world cup of late and the test victory against England played in Madras in 1952. Later, that same year, the team won initial test series, which was against Pakistan. This was truly one of the most unforgettable moments in the history of cricket and the whole country rejoiced and since then, the squad has systematically developed its performance during the decade.
With the start of one-day international cricket since 1971, the game has acquired a brand new magnitude. Unfortunately was not a good playing team during the initial one-day internationals which meant that the country lost several games and hence could not qualify for the second round of the first two cricket world cups. However, every Indian cricket follower knows that there is nothing that can stop the squad from getting what it deserves. Possibly, it is their heartily wishes and support that made the Indian squad the world cup winner in 1983 and gave all Indians a reason to celebrate cricket.
